About Tara Design Collective
Named after the Marathi word “तारा” (Tārā) meaning “star,” and the Gone with the Wind-inspired “Tara Blvd” which connects Atlanta to the southern outskirts and suburbs of the city, Tara Design Collective is a nod to the beauty that comes from celebrating shared cultural values of family, home, and belonging. As a Southern white woman who married into a North Indian immigrant family, I have been welcomed with open arms into the experience of traditional Marathi events, dress, and rituals. I have found that the core principles that guide Marathi ways of life have much in common with the Southern way of life, especially as it pertains to the importance of family.
Tara Design Collective will help you illuminate the beauty in your life, whether by designing a space that best represents your life and values, or by planning an event that celebrates your distinctive traditions or the wonderful blending of cultures in the name of love and family. We are excited to witness the love in your life and can’t wait to share it with you!

Since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved to make events special. After meeting Julia at Emory University in 2016, we began working together to plan events for our a cappella group, Dooley Noted, and other special occasions for friends and family. I knew I had found my partner in planning!
After receiving degrees from Emory University and Georgia State University, I currently work as a hospice social worker in metro-Atlanta. I live in Brookhaven with my two cats, Mulan and Dumpling, and my husband Ameya.
